Silicone Implants
Dr. Shumway uses only FDA approved Natrelle™ silicone breast implants.
Cohesivity
Every silicone gel-filled breast implant in the Natrelle™ Collection has a cohesive silicone gel-filler. Basically, this means that silicone inside the implant acts more like a soft solid than a liquid. All silicone gel-filled breast implant manufacturers currently have a consistent testing standard for silicone cohesivity, which is recommended by the FDA.
Diameter
The diameter of a breast implant is the distance from one side to the other. In general, the larger the implant, the wider its diameter. This can restrict your implant options, especially if you have a petite frame, because a larger implant may be too wide for your body. However the Natrelle™ Collection is different. Many silicone gel-filled breast implants in the Natrelle™ Collection are specially designed to give you the option of greater size without increasing the diameter of the implant.
Profile
The profile of your breast implants helps determine the distance that your breasts project out from your chest wall. Natrelle™ breast implants come in three distinct profiles—low, moderate (or mid-range) and high (or full). So you and Dr. Shumway can choose a profile that's right for you.
Volume
The size of a breast implant is based on its volume. Volume is usually measured in cc’s—e.g. 350cc. To help you and Dr. Shumway reach your goals, the Natrelle™ Collection offers a wide range of volumes, from 80cc – 850cc.
Shell texture
Breast implants from the Natrelle™ Collection are available in both textured and smooth options. There are many reasons for using either type of implant, but ultimately it's best to discuss the pros and cons of each during your consultation with Dr. Shumway.
